How to Keep Your Deck and Patio Clean All Summer Long

Summertime means it's time to enjoy the outdoors, but that can be hard if your deck and patio are covered in dirt, debris, and mildew. Luckily, there is an efficient way to clean these surfaces: pressure washing! Pressure washing quickly and effectively removes dirt and debris while also protecting against further deterioration. Here are some tips on how to use a pressure washer on your deck or patio this summer:

  • Start with Low Pressure: It’s important to start off with a lower pressure setting when using a pressure washer – higher pressures can cause damage to wood surfaces or cause them to become slippery. You can always increase the pressure level as needed if you find that it isn't removing tough stains or debris.

  • Use Deck Cleaners: After pre-rinsing with a low pressure setting, apply an appropriate cleaner (such as one specifically designed for decks) in order to help remove stubborn stains or mildew growths. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions when applying these cleaners as they will vary depending on the product used.

  • Rinse Thoroughly: Once you've applied any necessary cleaners, thoroughly rinse the surface with a high-pressure setting on your pressure washer – this will help ensure that all of the cleaning products used have been fully removed so they don’t discolor or damage any wood surfaces over time.

  • Protect Wood Surfaces: Finally, once you have finished cleaning the deck or patio surface it’s important to re-apply any protective sealants (such as those used on hardwood decks) in order to protect them from further sun or rain exposure throughout the summer months.

Pressure washing can be a great way to keep your deck and patio looking its best during this summer season! With these tips in mind, you’ll be able enjoy outdoor living without worrying about dirt or debris buildup!
